Abstract: Tristan Corbière, Jules Laforgue and Charles Cros masterfully incorporated colours in their poetry, thereby creating a system of meaning combining Eros, Ethos and Thanatos. By focusing on black, white and grey, these authors contribute to transfiguring the quest for an ideal of love and philosophy. In the depths of a dark Spleen, poetry offers an invitation to reconfigure the way we see and think, by forging in the reader a colourful and sensitive acuity.
