Abstract: Was Corbière the predecessor of the fin-de-siècle Decadents ? Rediscovered by Verlaine, Huysmans and Laforgue in the 1880s, his only collection was then interpreted as a potentially decadent work. This reading of Les Amours jaunes deserves to be analysed and compared with the stylistic, poetic and thematic elements that the history of literature has retained as characteristics of the Decadent movement. If the pre-decadentism of Les Amours jaunes contributes to their modernity, it is however far from being limited to it.
