Abstract: This article is a study of the notion of print characters as expressed in Corbière’s work. An examination of all the non-verbal signs shows that the characters imprinted on the page allow the poet to affirm the originality of his poetics, visually inscribing the distortions he inflicts on verse. The gesture of punctuating also opens a dialogue between painting and poetry, and it thus manifests the personality of the poet and his complex quest for identity.
