Abstract: Betwen 1811 and 1813, de Staël wrote her last two works, Dix années d’exil and the Considérations sur la Révolution française. Although these texts have a different tonality from one another, there are echoes and exchanges between them: some passages are copied, with some modification, from one work to the other. This article examines the nature of these exchanges by examining certain key moments of imperial history, as de Staël presents them, and questioning the author’s recomposition of the past.
