Abstract: This article is the first part of a series that will trace the history of the Ducasse family. Cristina Ducasse and Kevin Saliou focus on the origins of the family in the Pyrenees, from the first preserved traces, at the end of the seventeenth century, to the departure of François Ducasse and his brothers for the Americas. The family of Céleste Davezac is also investigated.
