Abstract: When critics compare Giraudoux’s La guerre de Troie n’aura pas lieu with the contemporaneous Supplément au voyage de Cook, the latter comes off far worse. When it is not entirely and sometimes deliberately overshadowed by the shining example of the former, it is dismissed as an exotic sketch, attracting largely cursory remarks about the presence of on-stage nudity.
