Abstract: In the field of Renaissance Studies, the persistence of the denomination “école lyonnaise” demonstrates the difficulty of abandoning literary categories. This article analyses the genesis of this questionable category. We will examine the methodological, historical and ideological bases that guide the interpretation of literary history as a succession or coexistence of “movements”.
