  • Abstract: Michele da Rabatta’s travel diary is a late 14th-century Italian pilgrimage account, written as a maritime itinerary along the coast of the Mediterranean Sea, then an itinerary in the Holy Land. The manuscript also contains representations of certain places, in the form of sketches. The article aims to establish a typology of place names, and discuss the function of these drawings.
