Abstract: In 1577, Marguerite de Valois travels to Flanders in order to negociate secretly an alliance against Spain for François d’Alençon. The Mémoires highlight the lures of the diplomatic discourse playing with concealment and demonstration and showing complex interactions between interiority and exteriority. Therefore, the Mémoires make room for the representation of political awareness among women in the early modern times.
