Abstract: This section brings together five contributions that, in various contexts, study the dialectic between secrecy and publicity between the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. It highlights on the one hand the long and complex relationship between these two concepts, on the other hand some of their fine developments, focusing for instance on the control of information within the political framework.
