Abstract: The article sheds new light on Victor Brodeau by examining his position and his activity within a complex network of personal relationships, and ones forged by and in texts. As valet de chambre and secretary of the royal entourage, he finds himself, moreover, at the heart of Marotic sociability. By exploring the interactions between the collective enterprises in which Brodeau was involved, this article reveals the sociopolitical and literary practices that defined an entire generation of poets.
