Abstract: Mellin de Saint-Gelais is absent from the collection Blasons anatomiques, even though he is reputed to have written two poems considered as blazons. This study questions the place that Saint-Gelais could occupy in the poetic firmament of the mid-1530s and presents the pieces of the file "Mellin and the Blasons" in order to better understand the mystery represented by the positioning of the court poet in relation to the initiative launched by Marot exiled in Italy.
