Abstract: This article aims to shed new light on a neglected aspect of the secret liturgy of Ḥaside Ashkenaz, by focusing on passages from Eleazar’s The Secrets of Secrets, and especially on sections from the first and third books, The Secret of the Work of Creation and The Book of the Name. These texts reveal that a connection between the terrestrial, angelic, and divine worlds can be established via the human voice in mystical performances, namely through the singing of liturgical songs and hymns.
