Abstract: This article aims to delimit the parodic sacrifice as a cultural genre in the renaissance period, while reviewing the diversity of the practices associated with it. It examines the case of 16th century Sienna – where the Intronati academy, the Rozzi company and the author Pietro Fortini figured as key players – by the analysis of the circulation of parodic sacrifices, from ritual performance to literary product, in different communities and in various cultural domains.
