Abstract: There is something original about Les Neapolitaines, Comedie Françoise facétieuse, published by François d’Amboise in 1584: a short story retelling the same tale precedes the play. Analysis of this editorial oddity and the context in which it was published enlighten us about how this comedy and facetious narration were perceived at that time: a humanist diversion that was relatively well established or, on the contrary, a new text imported from abroad trying to find its way.
