Abstract: JD examines the structure, themes and meaning of the Orpheus cycle in Rouen, Bm O. 4. The miniatures match the textual articulation between ancient fictions and medieval comment: narrative images followed by interpretative ones in Book X; alternation between story and comment in Book XI. The mythological iconography primes over the glose’s one, which reflects more the artist’s habits than a global and coherent meaning. By its breadth and variety, it contributes to the emergence of a new imagery.
