Abstract: Inspired by the intersection between verbovisual researches, artists’ books and publications, in 1969, Marcel Broodthaers transformed into image the poem Un coup de dés jamais n’abolira le hasard by Stéphane Mallarmé (1897). Starting from the analysis of this interpretation, the essay focuses on the themes and interartistic practices the artist engaged with. Under the aegis of Magritte and Duchamp, Broodthaers radically call into question the status of art in the advanced capitalist society.
