Abstract: In some linguistic contexts the need for an institutional intervention in the language is needed in order to ensure that terminological resources are available and, therefore, that language can be used in any specialized communication context. However, these resources do not prove as successful as one might hope, hence the importance of monitoring the actual use of official terminology. This highlights the degree of success and failure of terminological units, collects the guidelines and criteria to be considered to establish terminology standards and ensures the success of the official terms in use.
