Abstract: The aim of this paper is to examine the scientific scope of two recent linguistic notions—prise en charge (commitment) and polyphony—and observe their confluence and mutual interactions in order to evaluate the possibility of their having a common place in the linguistic field. In the case of prise en charge, the scope extends from the notion to theorisation; in the case of polyphony, the way is paved with theories. But their common insertion within an enunciative theory paves the way for an enriching scientific cooperation. This cooperation is, nevertheless, conditioned by the sharing of certain base postulates.
