Abstract: Alexandre Dumas never set foot in Haiti. Nevertheless, one cannot help but notice that the literary reality of an author of mixed black race in a white world is articulated around the sudden apparition, whether explicit or implicit, of his black origins in his fiction. This complexity constitutes the starting point of a utopian journey on the winding road of the Dumasian imaginary: a journey in black and white.
