. Dumas, écrire noir ou blanc
  • Author: Beliaeva Solomon (Maria)
  • Abstract: This article considers Georges, Dumas’ only novel addressing the contested status of people of color under the colonial system, in the context of contemporaneous emancipatory discourse, particularly in the French abolitionist press. In so doing, it interrogates the novel’s political stakes and its engagement with anti-slavery writing and thought.
