Abstract: From 1836 to 1838, Dumas published several reviews and studies about drama in the newspapers The Impartial and La Presse. His approach, combining vulgarization and controversy, defense of romanticism and engagement in political and literary debates, shows that the playwright was a real thinker of modernity.
