Abstract: In his seminar, Jacques Lacan gives an important place to Coûfontaine cycle in his reflection on the concepts of Freud's psychoanalysis, desire, the pleasure principle, the death drive, transference, sublimation, and the Thing. He does not simply give a psychoanalytical interpretation of the work, but asks rather what Claudel brings to the understanding of the analyst's practice. Lacan situates Claudel in a history of the tragic, and opens up new hermeneutical paths.
