Abstract: With Le Soulier de satin, his fourth opera, Marc-André Dalbavie continues his long-standing work on the voice, speech and song.... The composer tells the story of his discovery of Le Soulier de satin and explains his path and his aesthetic research. Considering certain aspects of the play and the score, he focuses in particular on the typology of the characters, the duration of the work and its heterogeneity, but also the breadth of the Claudelian verse, which calls for a melody beyond the breath.
