Abstract: The article gives an account of the historical circumstances that occurred in Montaigne's translation and it confirms the complementary relationship of the Théologie and Essais II, chapter 12. The question of the relationship between the text of the Théologie and that of the Essais, which in the past would have been considered out of place and today attracts the interest of scholars, is an open question, without this meaning that all the expected results have occurred.
