Abstract: The aim of this contribution is to compare Vives and Montaigne’s political thought. We will focus on Vives’s two summae and on Montaigne’s Essay III, 10. First, we will present their convergences and divergences on the art of governing. Secondly, we will deal with Vives and Montaigne’s critique of the hegemonic power relying on the treatises De concordia and De mesnager sa volonté. Finally, we will show the filiations that link the two authors to the development of the Humanism.
