Abstract: In this paper we address the relationship between Montaigne's thought and Pascal's, specifying what unites them and what separates them. In addition, we allude to the indirect reception of Montaigne by the Spanish writer Miguel de Unamuno who considered himself a kindred spirit or soul mate of Pascal. We focus on the considerations of Montaigne, Pascal and Unamuno on philosophy, the human condition and death, without forgetting the different contexts of their works.
