“E mutando sempre paese non mi mancava materia di che pascere la mia curiosità”Mobility and myopia in the journeys of Montaigne – Equivocations of curiosity
Abstract: Saturated by the principle of universal movement and considerations on our gnoseological limits, the Essais testify no less to a jubilation in view of the vitality of human curiosity. To remedy man’s cognitive myopia, Montaigne advocates travelling with a curiosity that savors the spectacle of the varietas mundi and suspends the cult of interiority in which the author indulges in his writing, this other journey where it proves to be a real impetus in the attempt to unravel his clouded vision.
