Abstract: Skepticism is the only philosophical traduction of the essay, as litereray genre elaborated by Montaigne to express the irresolution of his mind. The Montaigne’s essay implies on one hand the dissociation between philosophy and metaphysics and on the other hand the association between philosophy and the skeptical experience of transformation of mental representations. Thus, Montaigne’s thought will be characterized by its irreducibility to concepts and its devices for untying concepts.
