Abstract: Assia Djebar has always referred to her autobiographical œuvre as her “Quatuor algérien”. She was not able to accomplish its fourth and last volume, though. This contribution tries to put together the information Djebar has left about this project drawing on several interviews she gave over the course of two decades, between 1985 and 2006, and to the only fragment of the fourth volume published to date.
