Abstract: This chapter will study the presence of sea and war motifs in the celebrated Arthurian classic comic Prince Valiant by Canadian legendary artist Harold Foster (1892-1982). It will try to prove that the extraordinary success of this classic comic strip is not only based on external factors such as the talent of its author, the popularity of this contemporary multimedia genre, the never-ending appeal of neo-medievalist constructions for contemporary audiences, or the pleasant ideas that Foster knew how to communicate.
