Abstract: Specialists put forward an illuminating interpretation of the role of graphic accents in Anglo-Norman manuscripts, whose function is to clarify sequences of vowels. Using concrete examples and remaining sensitive to the performative dimension of texts, this analysis demonstrates that graphic accents are a veritable guide for reading aloud.
