Abstract: This interview with Éric Baratay retraces his career as a specialist in the history of the animal condition. The historian revisits the major axes of his thought, aiming at the elaboration of a history of animals from the animals' perspective, which takes into account individual animals and attempts to express their points of view. It also opens up new vistas for further research with the wish to broaden the reflection in order to build a history of non-humans, animals and plants, appreciating the richness each has to offer.
