Abstract: The poetry of Jaccottet starts by a disinterested attention to the world characterized by a contemplation which is not subordinated to the poem. The world in itself demands our attention. The poem will follow (or not) from a moment of interior coherence which guarantees its justness. Thus writing is a hatching of experience which, in Jaccottet’s poetry comes always first. His poetry is an invitation both to be and to love.
