Abstract: The article offers a reading of Beppe Fenoglio’s novel Una questione privata through the perspective of the mistake, that firstly will allow to deal with the critical knowledge on the complex identity of Milton, the protagonist. Secondly, the analysis will try to offer an interpretation of the personal initiation that is at the centre of the narrative.
