Abstract: At the centre of Gherasim Luca’s surrealist imaginary the woman is at once the idea and the reality of desire. The reality of the body is the psychic reality of desire. La Femme et son corps is for Gherasim Luca the place of language and silence in which speech truly takes place. This language of the poetic body of the Woman is in principle a demand for love which dynamically situates itself both short of and beyond desire, in a Lacanian perspective.
