  • Author: Miller-Blaise (Anne-Marie)
  • Abstract: Using The Country Parson (1630), a behavioral handbook written by G. Herbert, this article examines an overlooked tool in the wholly Protestant movement to sanctify the domestic space: the arrangement of the simplest objects in a pious home. The handbook’s originality lies in how, alongside the usual catechetical guidelines, it adds a sense of the right arrangement of objects inside a house in order to demonstrate the divine economy residing there.
