Abstract: During the period 1944-1948 Camus and Gide established ever closer links, both as friends and as intellectuals. Renting Gide’s apartment in Paris while the latter was still in Algiers, Camus collaborated on L’Arche, a review run by Jean Amrouche with Gide’s backing. Later, Camus having accompanied Gide on his return to Paris and having become his neighbour, Gide was to collaborate on Combat, revealing how close were their commitments.
