  • Abstract: According to Camus, the concept of abstraction is in opposition to human values. While these values do not change the content of abstraction does. The concept of abstraction has always been its submission to history or to ideologies, and also implies the devaluation of man by the power of money, just as demonstrated in the ideas of André Gorz. As a kind of “relative utopia” set against the concept of abstraction, Camus places his hopes in the “proper human values”, which he sees realised first by artists.
