Abstract: On 1 July 1944, in the context of discussions organised by Jean Vilar and the “Compagnie des Sept”, Albert Camus gave a lecture on “Staging as viewed by authors”. This talk has left few traces because Camus did not write up a text. But his notes conserved in the Fonds Camus of the Bibliothèque Méjanes in Aix indicate that he intended to present, among other things, a manifesto for the post-war theatre.
