Abstract: Dated to 1219, Calendre’s Empereors de Rome, the first verse narrative on Roman history, attests to a historiography enfeoffed to a prescriptive theological frame. The author makes use of the past in order to create an edifying work, a sort of “Christian propaganda” for princes.
