Abstract:Les Soleils des Indépendances by Ahmadou Kourouma sets forth death related myths which establish the semantic depth of the text, through the story of adventures which dot the course of Fama, the protagonist. Therefore, dreams appear to be the place where the destruction of Horodougou is encoded through a constellation of thanatogenic myths. The novel builds up on Fama Doumbouya being ridden by his horse Cauchemar (Nightmare)!
