Abstract:Les Soleils des Indépendances was a trailblazer in taking a new line about the governments that resulted from Independence. In a new language, fraught with multicultural and multilinguistic realities, Kourouma indulges in a harsh criticism and displays a sophisticated hybrid writing style. The comparison with the original manuscript reveals the emergence of new post-colonial poetics in which the multilingual way of writing allows the expression of ideas which can be regarded as amazingly modern.
