Abstract: Far from being reduced to mere denunciations of colonial and neo-colonial enterprise in Africa, Les Soleils des Indépendances also highlights issues that fall within the scope of general linguistics. Kourouma displays some peculiarities in his writing system, and one of them is based on the idea of a dialectalization of the meaning, a proof that the purpose of his writings is not limited only to its political commitment.
