Abstract: In Les Soleils des Indépendances, Kourouma never misses a chance of describing the weather : the weather can be seen as a paradigmatic axis which links the various layers of the novel and physically brings to light its universality. As a result we can say that the climate has a symbolically political dimension: it gives the novel its anthropologic value ; it gives the novel roots deeply embedded in human imagination and psyche. It ties men’s and peoples’ lives down to the pace of the universe.
