Abstract: The threat of flames awaits historic buildings, but current regulations overlook their heritage value and specific architectural features. Analysis of past destructive fires, combined with digital simulations, can provide information on major threats and likely fire scenarios and the necessary equipment and procedures. This approach is illustrated in the case of Notre-Dame de Paris, where the fire development phase is studied.
