Abstract: The founding of a research group on the history of construction in an Italian university has brought to light issues previously broached in Ædificare: how to define a position on the history of construction, its multidisciplinary character, and ways of teaching it. But the evolution of education and research in Italy has also been marked by the current challenges for and needs of the territory.
