Les terrains de la guerre et la « construction instantanée » à la fin du xixe siècleGeorges Frédéric Espitallier et la culture constructive du génie militaire
Abstract: This article examines a building system in use between 1880 and 1900. Metal production expanded considerably and iron, cast iron, and then steel made their way into the construction process. Military engineers took an interest in industrialized light construction. Lt. Colonel G. F. Espitallier (1849-1923) was involved in the development of several models including a tubular metal frame construction system that successfully competed with the main contemporary systems.
