Testimony Vocal Technique and Declamation: A Pedagogical Approach for Historically Informed Performance

A priori, nothing could be more natural than to use the voice in the theatre. But once on stage, however, stage fright, gestures and other external parameters such as the acoustics of the room seem to work against the optimal functioning of the performer’s vocal apparatus. Throughout the year, students have explored their own voices in order to acquire the richest possible “vocal palette”, which they will then put to use in theatrical declamation and action.
