  • Abstract: An examination of sources makes it possible to analyze the formation of an elite in the Principality of Moldavia in the fourteenth century and follow their evolution in the fifteenth century. At that time, there were only Christian elites, since access to positions (in the administration of power, whether central or provincial) and the right to own landed estates were reserved for the Orthodox alone. Heterodox allogènes participated broadly in the administration of cities and were able to play an important role in other services.
